Desert of Maine

This past weekend I visited the Desert of Maine, which is a strange sandy landscape outside of Freeport, Maine. The sand is actually a glacial silt that was exposed to the surface after years of soil erosion. Because of this erosion, the sand has risen year after year, and has buried a turn of the century farmhouse, amongst other things.
